Find Webster County Arrests

People who look up Webster County arrest records must follow the event through more than one official office. The arresting agency writes the report, county jail staff create the booking entry, and the state court records any charge that is later filed. A Webster County arrest lookup may therefore start with current custody, an agency request, or a court search, based on the question. Iowa also offers a separate statewide, fingerprint-supported history product. Each source has firm limits, and an arrest record by itself does not show guilt or the final result of a case.

Webster County Arrest History

Webster County arrest records begin with the agency that took a person into custody. The Webster County Sheriff handles arrests from its own investigations, warrant work, and areas it serves. Fort Dodge Police creates records for city events, Gowrie Police keeps its own reports, and the Iowa State Patrol controls records from its patrol work. Those agencies do not share one public report pool. A request must go to the office that made the record.

When custody follows, the Webster County Jail makes a second record. Jail intake can involve identity checks, a photograph, fingerprints when required, charge or hold data, screening, classification, bond steps, and release or transfer. A prosecutor may then file a case in Iowa District Court. That court file can show a charge, disposition, and sentence that the first arrest report could not yet contain.

Webster County Arrest Record Custodians

The Law Enforcement Center brings the sheriff, county jail, and Fort Dodge Police into one building, but it does not make them one custodian. The sheriff contact directory identifies the office lines that route Webster County arrest and jail questions. This official source view shows why the first useful step is naming the unit that created the record.

The sheriff administrative and records line is 515-573-1410 during public hours, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except holidays. The jail line, 515-573-1462, is answered around the clock for custody questions.

Fort Dodge Police uses the same address, but its administrative number is 515-573-1424 and its nonemergency dispatch line is 515-573-2323. Gowrie Police receives city requests at 1206 Market Street or 515-352-3800. These routes matter because a Webster County arrest record remains with the office that made it, even when county jail staff later receive the person.

Looking Up Webster County Arrests

No current official browser roster covers all Webster County arrests. A sound search instead moves from the freshest custody source to the agency report, court case, and statewide history. Use exact names and dates when known, but do not send sensitive identifiers until the lawful custodian explains a secure method.

  1. Identify the arresting agency. Contact the sheriff for sheriff arrests, Fort Dodge Police for city arrests, Gowrie Police for Gowrie events, or Iowa DPS for a State Patrol arrest.
  2. For present custody, call the Webster County Jail, use IowaVINE, or review the official sheriff app. These channels show status, not a full arrest history.
  3. Request the incident or arrest report from the creating agency. State the date range, public location, report number if known, requested parts, and preferred format.
  4. Allow a new case about one business day to enter Iowa Courts Online, then search Webster County for the filed charge and disposition. Contact the clerk when an old or absent file requires direct help.
  5. Use Iowa DCI when an Iowa-wide, fingerprint-supported history is needed. The official name check costs $15 per last name and follows chapter 692 release limits.

For a formal sheriff request, Iowa Code chapter 22 permits inspection and copies subject to lawful redaction and cost. Ask Admin/Records for the current estimate, delivery choices, and any identification rule. The county page called “Records Division” is civil-process guidance, not a criminal-report form.

Webster County Booking Status Fallbacks

The official Webster County Jail page does not publish a browser roster. Its inspected material instead explains fingerprint services. The image below comes from that county source and reinforces that a jail page may serve a task other than public inmate search.

For present custody, call the 24-hour jail line. For status alerts, use IowaVINE. Releasable booking details that neither source displays may be requested under chapter 22. Medical, juvenile, security, protected victim, and active investigative information can be withheld or redacted.

The county jail has 56 beds and handles local pretrial booking. It is not the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility, which is a state prison. Sentenced state custody belongs in Iowa DOC Offender Search, while federal custody belongs in the federal locator.

Inside a Webster County Arrest Record

Webster County did not publish a verified public booking-profile field inventory, so a lookup should not promise fields that may not be released. The following table describes the records documented in the research and states where each fact is most likely held. Availability still turns on the source, the age of the event, and confidentiality law.

Subject identifiersName, date of birth, gender, aliases, and other identifiers may help the agency resolve the correct record.
Arrest eventThe arresting agency may hold the alleged offense, arrest date and place, agency, and warrant or warrantless basis.
Booking intakeThe jail may hold custody, charge or hold entry, fingerprint or photograph intake, bond steps, and release or transfer data.
Filed chargeIowa District Court records the prosecutor's filed charge, which may differ from the arrest label.
DispositionThe court docket, not the booking entry, answers whether a filed charge ended in conviction, dismissal, acquittal, or deferred judgment.
Booking photographThe jail, not Fort Dodge Police, is the identified custodian; release remains subject to Iowa records and confidentiality law.
Current statusJail staff and IowaVINE can address custody status, but neither is a complete historical rap sheet.

IowaVINE Webster County Arrest Alerts

Webster County IowaVINE offers an official internet and telephone custody-status search. It can also send phone or email notices when custody status changes. The captured source below is useful for finding that service without treating it as a complete arrest database.

Webster County arrest status search through IowaVINE

IowaVINE can also be reached at 1-888-742-8463. A status notice does not supply the full booking file, police narrative, filed case, or statewide DCI history. If a person is no longer in the current custody layer, follow the arrest back to the agency and forward to the court docket.

Booking Logs and Recent Arrests

Webster County provides no verified current browser booking log. Fort Dodge publishes seven days of Calls for Service, but that interface is a preliminary activity channel, not a conviction list or a complete arrest blotter. Entries may also be redacted for privacy or safety. A call entry does not prove an arrest occurred.

The “Webster County Sheriff Iowa” app is another official mobile channel. Its listings advertise news, notifications, tips, crime reporting, and interactive public-safety information, but the official descriptions do not promise a detailed roster or warrant module. The official App Store listing shows the source and verified scope pictured below.

Use the app as a supplement and call 911 for emergencies. When recent activity must be confirmed, the jail line and arresting agency remain the direct sources.

Fort Dodge Local Arrest Record Form

Fort Dodge Police offers a narrow Local Arrest History product for records it maintains from Webster County. It is expressly not a statewide criminal history, excludes traffic history, and may omit the court's final disposition. Requests are made in person or by mail. Current city guidance says production under 30 minutes is ordinarily free, while an older flat-fee statement should not be used without confirmation.

The form requests first, middle, and last name, date of birth, gender, and any other birth, maiden, adoptive, or alias names. Social Security number is optional. It includes an authorization block for cases where release requires consent, including its special juvenile-record rule, and staff mark whether an arrest record was found. A negative result only addresses FDPD's defined local product.

A sheriff report request follows a different route. The county's page titled Records Division, pictured here, mainly covers civil process and should not be mistaken for an arrest-report portal.

Call Admin/Records for the right criminal-record request method instead of mailing civil-process papers under that page's instructions.

Arrests Are Not Convictions

An arrest documents custody based on an allegation or warrant. A conviction records a court finding or guilty plea. In Webster County, those records are created by different offices and can diverge as prosecutors amend or decline charges and judges enter dispositions. The full court outcome can be followed through Webster County criminal court cases.
